Triathlon, in 1978 the American naval officer John Collins in the island of Hawaii in order to test the durability of the human body swimming in 3 thousand 800 meters, then 180 km bike race, and after 42 kilometers – 195 meters marathon running triathlon in 1983 came to Europe and it has been started for the first time in Turkey in Alanya, 1991.
Alanya Triathlon and Tennis Club has pioneered the establishment of the Turkey Triathlon Federation. The International Alanya Triathlon is held in men and women as a pillar of the European Championship and It consists of 1.5 kilometers swimming, 40 kilometers bike, 10 kilometers marathon race. Apart from the European Championships, the Alanya Triathlon is also available for young men, men over 40, and men over the age of 50.
Firstly, in 1991, The Alanya Triathlon started with the participation of 120 athletes from 13 countries. ETU Triathlon European Championship was held with the participation of 2000 athletes from approximately 38 countries and this year, we are proud to be hosting the ITU World Cup Championship and the ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup.
With the efforts of a number of sports enthusiasts who see abroad the contribution to tourism of sports in Alanya, it organized an organization international dimension on 17 October 1991. This organization received positive reviews by both domestic and foreigners. It was decided to organize traditionally and it has progressed until today.
Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation in 1963 “Marmara Tour” took start with the name and for the first time in 1965 gained international status. In 1966, it was taken over by the Presidency. In 1968 was made the emphasis on Turkey word by removing the name of the “Marmara” and the name of the race is now in its fourth year at the international level “Presidential Tour of Turkey” is being used as. The 2017 de Tour is organized for the first time in the ”UCI World Tour“ category. As of 2008, Alanya was accepted as the first stage of the tour.
The first mountain bike organization was held in Alanya in Turkey in 1997. The first organization came from Germany, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden 5 national team with five men and women athletes. National press had been very interested and 34 journalists came to Alanya. Climate and region conditions are very suitable so especially attracted the attention of foreign riders. After 2019, the race will be organized by our agency as XCO Cross Country Olympic.
